Lightroom Classic Performance Update Coming?

Adobe Lightroom

Many photographers have been complaining to Adobe for a very long time about Lightroom performance (or lack of it) and Adobe mentioned that they were going to look into it – see my post here.

It looks like Adobe are taking some action. Apparently, Adobe are working on a significant update to Lightroom Classic, which should be “coming soon”.

What Adobe are saying is:

In this upcoming Lightroom Classic 7.2 release, we were able to make significant strides with our partners at Intel on addressing key performance issues. We have optimized CPU and memory usage so that performance will scale better across multiple cores on computers with at least 12 GB of RAM.

Adobe claim that Lightroom will have a faster import process and faster process of generating previews. And apparently the adjustments made to images in the Develop module will render faster as well (although I have never complained about that, it’s always been very responsive on my machines).

Adobe promise to continue working on improving performance of Lightroom.
