Fujifilm has announced that the Fujichrome Velvia 100F and 50 will be discontinued (35mm, 120, and 4”×5” formats).
The films will still be delivered until the end of the year (at least in the UK), but they won’t be manufactured any more. These are not the first films we see go… I guess, that’s the way it’s going nowadays with the digital. Some of the films are being discontinued and it makes sense as the demand drops.
Here’s what Gabriel Da Costa, who product manages professional film for Fujifilm, says:
‘It is an unfortunate consequence of digital capture, that some of the slower selling silver-halide lines will drop off the radar.’
